About PC Test Tools

Updated

PC Test Tools is a free collection of browser-based tests for the hardware you use every day: monitors, keyboards, mice, game controllers and webcams, plus a few full-screen tools for presenting and streaming. Every tool runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to upload.

Who runs this site

I'm Tanveer Azam Ansari. I write software for a living and have been tinkering with PCs for about 10 years, including building and upgrading my own. I play games, work with more than one monitor on my desk, and have put together my own webcam and streaming setup.

I've sent back faulty gear before, and I'm the one friends and family call when a screen starts acting up. I build and maintain every page on this site myself. I write the code, test each tool on real hardware and answer the email that comes in.

Why this site exists

Checking a new monitor for dead pixels or a mouse for double-clicking should take a minute. Too often it means installing unknown software, or using a test page buried under ads that cover the buttons. I wanted one place where the test loads instantly, works on any device and explains the result in plain English.

What makes these tools different

  • The tool comes first. Each page opens with a working test. The explanation comes after it.
  • Private by design. Tests run on your device. Camera images, key presses and screen markers never leave it.
  • Honest about limits. A browser can't measure everything. Each page says what the test can and can't tell you, and what to do next.
  • Clean pages. No pop-ups and no sign-up. If the site shows ads, they stay away from the tools.

How the site is funded

The tools are free. To pay for hosting and development, the site may show a small number of display ads, placed away from the tools. No company pays to be mentioned or recommended here.
