What these screen tools are for

Screen tools turn your display into something else for a while: a prompter, a scoreboard, a dark or bright panel, or a harmless prank. Each one runs in your browser and fills the screen with one click.

They suit quick jobs where installing an app would take longer than the job itself. Nothing is uploaded, and settings stay in this browser, so your next visit starts where you left off. They work with a mouse, a keyboard or touch.

Black Screen

A plain black page that fills the screen. Use it to darken the display while music or a podcast plays, to rest an OLED panel, or to look for light leaking at a monitor’s edges in a dark room.

Hacker Typer

Every key you press types made-up code that looks like a movie hacking scene. Press Alt three times for ACCESS GRANTED, or Caps Lock three times for ACCESS DENIED. It’s a harmless prank: nothing is hacked, sent or installed.

Online Teleprompter

Paste a script, set the speed in words per minute and read it in full screen. Mirror mode suits glass rigs, and a presenter clicker can pause it or jump ahead. Your scripts stay in this browser.

Online Scoreboard

Keep score for basketball, volleyball, soccer and other sports, with a game clock, periods and fouls. Put it on a TV or projector in full screen, or open a separate display window, and run it from the keyboard.

How to choose the right screen tool

Start with what you need the screen to do, then pick the matching screen tool from this table or the cards above.

Which screen tool do I need?
I want to…Tool

Find dead pixels on a new screenDead Pixel Test

If two tools seem to fit, think about where people will look. A phone is fine for a quick prompter, but a scoreboard that a room watches belongs on a laptop, TV or projector.

Two monitor checks fit here too. A backlight bleed test shows glow at a screen’s edges in a dark room. A dead pixel test finds pixels that stay dark or stuck.

Recording yourself? Check your framing and light with the webcam test before you start the teleprompter.

Each tool does one job instead of coming in dozens of near-identical versions. Sport presets live inside the scoreboard, for example, so you never hunt for the right page.

Using screen tools in full screen

Most tools go full screen when you press Start or the full-screen button. To leave, press Esc, or move the mouse or tap the screen to show the ✕ button. On Windows, F11 switches the whole browser to full screen and back.

iPhone Safari can’t show one part of a page in full screen. On an iPhone, the tools fill the browser window instead, so turn the phone sideways for the biggest view.

During long sessions, the tools ask the browser to keep the screen awake, but only while the page is visible. The cursor hides after 2 seconds without movement and comes back when you move the mouse.

To use a TV or projector, connect it with HDMI and choose Duplicate or Extend in your display settings. Move the browser window to the big screen first, then switch the tool to full screen there.

With two screens, put the tool on the one people watch and keep your own window on the other. The scoreboard has a separate display window for exactly this, and it stays in sync with your controls.

Test the setup a few minutes before you need it. Check that the text is big enough from the back of the room, and that the screen doesn’t dim or sleep.

Keep pranks harmless

The prank screens are plain web pages. They don’t install anything, change settings or send data, and Esc or closing the tab ends them.

Reveal the joke soon, and never run a prank on a work or school computer. Someone may call IT or restart the machine and lose their work. Stay nearby, keep it short and show the person how to exit.

Real scams can look similar, so know the warning sign. A page that asks you to press Win+R, paste a command or call a support number is a scam: close the tab and never follow its steps.

Frequently asked questions

Are these screen tools free?

Yes. Every screen tool on this page is free, with no sign-up, download or watermark. They run in your browser, and your settings, scripts and scores stay in this browser on your device. Nothing you type is uploaded, and you can close the tab at any time without losing your saved settings.

Do the screen tools work on a phone or iPhone?

Yes. They work in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on phones and tablets. iPhone Safari can't show part of a page in true full screen, so the tools fill the browser window instead. Turn the phone sideways for the biggest view, and tap the screen to show the controls again.

How do I make a screen tool full screen and exit again?

Press Start or the full-screen button in the tool. To exit, press Esc, or move the mouse or tap the screen to show the ✕ button. On Windows, F11 also switches the whole browser to full screen and back. The cursor hides after 2 seconds, so it doesn't get in the way.

Can I show a screen tool on a TV or projector?

Yes. Connect the laptop with an HDMI cable. Choose Duplicate to show the same picture, or Extend to use the TV as a second screen. You can also cast a browser tab to a smart TV or streaming stick. Then open the tool and switch it to full screen on the big screen.

Are the prank screens safe?

Yes. They're ordinary web pages that only change what's on the screen. Nothing is installed, deleted, sent or changed on the computer, and Esc or closing the tab ends the prank. Reveal the joke soon, and never use a prank on a work or school computer, where someone may call IT.

Can I use a prank screen as a screensaver?

Not as a real screensaver. These are web pages, not system screensavers, so they run only while the tab is open and in front. Some tools ask the browser to keep the screen awake, but only while the page is visible. Your computer's own sleep and lock settings still apply.
