Privacy policy
Updated
Effective date: October 31, 2026
This policy explains what data PC Test Tools (pctesttools.com) handles and why. The short version: the tests run on your device, I don't collect personal information, and the only third parties are Google's analytics and advertising services and the hosting provider.
No accounts, no uploads
There are no user accounts. Every test runs in your browser. Key presses, mouse clicks, screen markers, controller input, typed text and camera images are processed on your device. They are never sent to our server or to anyone else.
Camera access
The webcam test asks for camera permission only after you click to start. The video stays on your device: it is never recorded or uploaded, and the camera is switched off when you stop the test or leave the page. You can remove the permission at any time in your browser's site settings.
Settings saved in your browser
Some tools remember your settings, such as the colors you picked or a test duration, so you don't have to set them again. They are stored in your browser's local storage under names that start with "pctesttools:" and never leave your device. To delete them, clear the site data for pctesttools.com in your browser settings.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which tools are used and whether they work, for example how often a test is started and finished. These events never include what you type, camera images, device names or other personal content. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies, and processes your IP address to estimate your general location. Google describes its practices in its privacy policy.
Advertising
The site may show ads served by Google AdSense.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com).
You can read more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Consent
For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. Once the site shows ads, visitors there see a consent message from Google's certified consent tool, and these cookies are set only if you agree. Visitors from some US states then also get a choice to opt out of the sale or sharing of their data. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy link that these messages add to the page.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type. I don't receive personal data from these logs.
For visitors outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Cloudflare also adds a small script that measures how fast pages load, such as load time and layout shifts. It doesn't set cookies or store anything in your browser, and I only see totals.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the effective date above.
